Cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Entrepreneurship of Albania under the EU Twinning project “Strengthening of capacities of the Consumer Protection Commission and its Technical Secretariat”. Under this project roughly 10 students participated in a research project and different workshops organised by Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Entrepreneurship of Albania

Project 1.       Statistical analyses and modelling for survival data, parametric and/or semi parametric modelling for censored data.

Purpose: The subject of this study project is related with the modelling and statistical data analysis for survival data. It is part of the PhD dissertation of Lule Hallaçi, researcher and instructos at the Dep. of Applied Mathematics in Tirana University and what the supervisor is Prof. Fatmir Hoxha. The main project purposes are related with the interpretation of survival functions and use of the parametric and semiparametric methods for censored data. Particularly Kaplan Meyer method for empirical estimation of survival probabilities and for the visually or statistics tests comparison of survival curves will be revisited. Some new models as the stratified and enlarged Cox models will be studied. The study will be in strong relation with the practical use of the methods, by choosing the best distribution adapted to local real data from the medicine and/or insurance field.

Method. The methodology combines the study of relative aspects in actual literature, theoretical and practical, a comparative study of different aspects and results. The software aspects will be also considered (R, SPSS). The local situation on the possibility of use of such technics will be also considered. For the moment, the methods never are used in medicine or insurance fields in Albania. The projects aim also to open a new field of applications of statistical methods in country.

Project 2. Collaborative Research Project “Social Impact of the Energy Reforms” reporting the energy driven poverty using “Household Budget Survey, World Bank Funded Research (2016-2017)

Purpose: Evaluate the impact of energy reform on poverty using existing and primary data at national level.

Method: The project used data from the National Household Budget Survey to estimate the impact of energy price and subsidy reform on family welfare as measured by the per capita consumption. The analyses were based on micro simulation analyses. A national survey was implemented by the Ministry of Energy and the dataset was used to estimate the effect of energy reform on household propensity to fall in poverty.

Project 3. Collaborative international research Project “Mitigate the Risks of Falling Back Into Poverty” under the scientific guidance George Gray Molina Adjunct Associate Professor of International and Public Affairs at SIPA Columbia University. (2016-2017)

Purpose: Understand the effect of the tax policy change on the risk of households to fall into poverty.

Method: The project was implemented using synthetic panel data set method.
