Education and Skills for the Digital Age
Objectives of the project:
As part of its objectives to proving learning and mentoring opportunities for people in Albania and the region, the Canadian Institute of Technology (CIT ) is hosting the first edition of the Open Summer Academy: Education and Skills for the Digital Age.
The Open Digital Summer Academy is an integrated part of the initiative “Digitalizing Economy and Society”. It aims improving the digital skills and business administration of young people in the country and region, enabling their learning in an open environment, empowering their integration in Digital Communications professional education and Technology industry. Through this program Canadian Institute of Technology (CIT) will assist young person’s setting goals and meeting achievements of such goals.
Scheduled for July 06-13 July, the program curriculum covers basic applicative acknowledgements on computer science and business administration. Other areas to be covered during the program include Career Counselling, Mentoring sessions. Participants will be young people 17 – 22.
The CIT Open Digital Summer Academy is narrowing the experiences of the students of Secondary School leavers with a deeper focus on improving the digital skills of young people in our community and enabling their learning, employment and engagement in the Digital Communications and Technology Industry.
The project will provide growth opportunities helping career development interventions for young people enabling them professionally along stages of their life.
Through this program CIT aims engaging them objective career conversations about their career decisions, providing tools and services to enable them move into their preferred courses of discipline or create career paths in their job integration.
The Open Summer Academy program covers basic knowledge applicative in the following courses of the respective programs:
COMPUTER SCIENCE
- Digital logics;
- Software and computer architecture;
- Java computer-programming language;
- Security engineering ;
- Career Mentoring,
- Excursions to Tech companies ,
- Blogging,
- Website design/Development,
- Social Media Management,
- Google Tools,
- Finance and Accounting;
- Block chains ;
- Sessions with leading professionals in Digital Communication.
ECONOMICS
- How maths helped in formulating economic theories.
- An alternative financial system to capitalism
- Boundary-less Organizations: Making them work
- Choosing the right career in the Human Resource Management field
- Use of mathematics in economics
- Presentation of a scientific research in the field of economy
- Enterprise, Business Planning
This one-week pre-university/ summer technology program introduces students to such topics as creating a basic web page, data analytics, and the various ways to present data’s well as all tools that can be helpful as citizens in the 21st century. To supplement the class lectures and hands-on activities, students also visit most successful companies in Albania. Courses will be taught through faculty lectures, industry field trips, hands-on projects, and even mentoring sessions with faculty, researchers, and graduate students. Students also have the chance exploring Tirana – Durres metropolitan area.
Not only knowledges but Certificate of achievements with will be delivered to successful participants of the program.
